Why Our First Christmas Ornament is Special
When we start looking for our first Christmas ornament we are basically creating symbolism for a new stage of the relationship. Whether it’s a marriage, a partnership, or something in between, all relationships move in stages. The commemoration of holiday togetherness is quite special and it deserves the recognition that you want to give it. After all, not every relationship gets to the point where there is need for a first ornament.
The type of decoration that we choose for our first Christmas ornament can be literally anything that we want. There are plenty of selections that actually state that they are designed to be the first. Whether or not you choose to have the words printed on the ornament depends quite a bit on personal preference, as you’re not likely to forget which ornament is your first one together.
Classic ornaments work well. If you and your special someone share a passion together (aside from each other) then you can get a commemorative ornament that depicts that passion. Disney ornaments, romantic ornaments, silly ornaments, and elegant ornaments provide you with tons of selection.
Of course, we definitely want to include our loved one in the selection process. Choosing our first Christmas ornament should be a process that we share. After all, if we end up staying together for the rest of our lives, there’s only on first ornament. We don’t want to end up with something that stays in the box next year. Instead, a little togetherness and choosing the right one for both of us gives us a chance to agree on the ornament, and practice agreeing on other future purchases.
This is a very special time of year. Being able to share it with someone that is very special to you can make it all that much better. When you cuddle up on the couch and watch the tree lights dance it feels really good to look at the ornament that is shared and was purchased as an act of love and caring for each other.
There are so many ornaments that we might want to get more than one. I know it says our first Christmas ornament, but who says that it really needs to just be a singular ornament. Maybe we want to purchase several because we like them and we enjoy the process of coming together to choose the decoration that celebrates our deep love for each other.
