Classic White Christmas Lights for a Classic Christmas

If you want to present a classic Christmas then no doubt you’re going to need the classic white Christmas lights. These are perfect for the tree as well as for adorning the outside bushes, trees, and the trim of the house. In fact, it can be downright difficult to make the classic white lights look bad.

The beauty of the classic lights is that you can create a beautiful traditional holiday setting without much effort. Lighting the tree began with attaching small candles to the branches. Naturally, a great number of trees and homes went up in smoke due to this practice. Electricity changed everything about the way we light up our holiday trees.

There are a number of different beliefs regarding the origins and history of lighting the Christmas tree. Some believe that it was a representation of the stars shining down and catching the eye of the Protestant reformer Martin Luther. The stars struck the tree limbs and came through with such beauty (remember there weren’t city lights to interfere with star gazing back then) and he added candles to the tree at home to bring some of the peace he felt inside.

Of course, there are more religious beliefs as well. There are many believe that the classic white Christmas lights represent the idea that Jesus is “the light of the world.”

There are other ideas floating around that could be true or might not be true. There is no historical record of when the first tree was lit and why it caught on as such a heartfelt tradition.

There is no doubt that stringing the classic white lights is a chore that results in pure beauty. Outdoor lights give an amazing glow to the world while indoor lights brighten up a tree regardless of how well it is decorated.

The easiest way to hang the classic white lights is to start with a strand that is plugged into the wall, preferably behind the tree so that it’s hard to see but not so hard to get to. The lights are put on the tree before the ornaments. If you hang them while lighted it is easier to see what you’re doing and catch mistakes before you have to unwrap the whole tree and start over again. Classic white Christmas lights look best when they are well spaced and relatively even. It often takes 2 to 3 strands to get the look that you’re going for.
